History Museum Speaker Presentation: Tavern Songs by Ron Carey
Join us for an evening of "18th Century Tavern Music of the Niagara Frontier" presented by Ron Cary. Ron retired after 40 years as a chorus and general music teacher for the North Tonawanda School District. Currently he is the Deputy Niagara County Historian. Ron says he will be wearing period clothing and will sing songs that were popular in 18th century taverns and explain their historical context. Ron's tavern songs include: various forms of happy, sad, lullabies, soldiers, sailors, war, rascals, wenches, drinking songs and yes, bawdy ballads.
